This past weekend was CaliBurnFest, a weekend-long festival on the Burnt Ranch Gorge section of the Trinity River near Arcata, California.
Friday featured a big-air surf contest at Camel Rock, while Saturday featured a mass-start downriver race through Burnt Ranch Gorge. Burnt Ranch Gorge is a Class 4 section of the Trinity River, located about 1 hour east of Arcata, CA.
The mass-start downriver race took place from the Son of Scrapper to below Falls #2. At 12:00, over 20 racers, long and short boat, lined up, facing upstream. On "Go", racers did a complete roll, then had to turn around and sprint downstream about 15 minutes to the finish line.
I'll let the photos do the talking...
